Forms

Hand Forms

A form is a set of motions and postures you go through in a set order. They train strength and flexibility and prepare you for martial applications but are also considered the most relaxing aspect of practice.

There are two types of hand form: square form and round form. You will be taught the square form first in class then progress to the round form when you are proficient enough.

Square Form

The motions and postures are carried out in time with counting from the class leader. On each count you progress to the next posture and hold that until the next count.

Round Form

The sequence of motions are the same in round form as in square form however, there is no count to follow so the movements are continuous with no stops or pauses.

Martial Applications

Here you get a chance to try out what you have learned in theory from the forms. There are many partner exercises to try and these can be done with weapons as well as with bare hands.
